Guys,

I got an iphone, and I want to put a handsfree kit in my expy. Preferably, one that plays thru the stero system.

I have an 04 Eddie Bauer with the 6 disc stero, and rear dvd system, not the nav radio.

What can you guys suggest...

Thanks.

Yeah, it does have a built in speaker phone, but it's not as loud as I would like it to be, my last phone, a nokia, had the same problem. Plus, as well as having telephone calls ported thru my stereo speakers, i want my music thats on the phone to play thru as well, and keep my phone charged while in the vehicle, with as few wires as possible..

I'm looking at FM modulators for the ipod part, and just looking dorky with a bluetooth headset for phone calls.

I think you may be out of luck with the iPhone. You would need one of the cable that plugs into the port on the bottom, as aftermarket headphones/accessories won't work in the headphone port. At least my aftermarket Shure's didn't fit. And it uses a standard 3.8mm jack.

Problem is, I haven't tested to see if my phone works while docked. I can see you being able to play your music, but I don't know about the phone part...

Hope that shed a bit of light on things...

Hey Spartan,

I just helped a friend of mine install one of these in his F150 quad cab

Blue Tooth

It links up with your stereo to mute it when you get a call, and it plays the call through its own speaker under the dash, and you install the mic wherever you want to.....We did his on the roof by his visor. When the call is done, it brings your music back on. They have different models where you can have voice activation to access numbers in your phone book as well. Its super clear and really loud if you want it to be. One of the best phone upgrades I've seen out there. I'm going to be buying myself one. Just need to save up the cash after i buy my HID kit.

Hope that helps you out. Its well worth the money and took me and my friend a couple hours to do the install. time consuming but worth the effort!

The only problem with bluetooth devices like that in a vehicle is the person on the other end of the phone hears everything from tire noise, exhuast rumble, etc.

I bought a Jensen MP8610BT head unit (has built in Bluetooth) for my wifes Mustang and from her end it was great when a call came in the stereo muted automatically and you hear the call throught the stereo speakers but the person on the other end of the line had a hard time hearing my wife over the Flowmasters and A/C.

Guys,

Thanks on the good info and tips. I appreciate them.

Just for anyone's info, I've purchased a DLO Trans dock for my iphone. It actually does a good job playing the music thru my radio, even though its thru the FM . Very little, to none at all in static. Now i'm just pondering whether to get an installed bluetooth kit or just use an bluetooth headset.

Thanks for all your help guys......

Hi,

I have installed Ford's "Mobile Ease" bluetooth ...

It works by voice commands like "call", "dial", ... etc. You can switch between public (via speakers) and private (via phone) modes. It has got a phone directory and each entry has several numbers for cellular/home .. etc.

When my mobile (a Nokia) is on bluetooth, it automatically connects to my car when I turn it on. The installation is clean .. only two devices you need to attach to the dashboard which are the mic and the control unit .. and the main device is connected to the radio and hidden behind the dashboard.

So far the system is very good and very convenient.

Hope this helps.

Regards

I bluetooth my iPhone through a Garmin 550c using the GPS as a speakerphone.

Works great!
