Antenna Choices
I have a 1999 Expy. I wouldn't change the antenna. It serves as a nice early warning system if you're trying to crawl into a parking garage that might just be low enough to eat the roof rack.- PaulC

Remote Start
Won't start or hold idle unless the accelerator is pressed? Goes away for awhile, then pops up again? If so, usually a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) valve.- PaulC

I don't know. You have $25,000+ worth of truck sitting in the driveway. I would go for a unit from an established company with product support. Also, a good installation is everything when dealing with a remote starter. Barbecued Expy is not a very flavorful meal. I have a remote starter...- PaulC

My 1999 Expy developed a problem at about 38,000 miles in which the engine would occasionally race during the 2-3 upshift. Problem was traced to a component known as a 2-3 valve accumulator spring. Spring and valve were replaced at a cost of $250. Another issue is that these transmissions...- PaulC

1999 side mirrors
If you have an Eddie Bauer with the built-in turn signal indicators, then this is a common problem. Some people have had luck dealing with the manufacturer of the mirror lenses, a company called Muth Mirrors. I believe they have a website.- PaulC

UGH, Wife wrecked the car!
The only way CARFAX will know that the vehicle was ever damaged is if it was totaled by an insurance company (for financial reasons) subsequently repaired, and a "reconstructed" title is issued for the truck.
