    Coolant consumption

Don’t forget about the coolant lines to the rear heater core if you have that option. A lot of shops don’t think to look at the rear of the vehicle and easily miss that.

    Battery question

I agree with Soliyou. It is an insulator to help the battery stay warm and also protect it from under hood heat. I bought it from the dealer and it was about $15

    Flood Extended Warranty

Lombard Ford is another good one to shop online with besides the ones mentioned. I have a 2018 with 78k and just purchased the Premium Care Ford ESP coverage to 11 years (2029) and 150k about a month ago. After choosing the Premium care, you can add on the lighting coverage for about $100 as...

Integrated front wheel hub 4wd grinding $20 upgrade. “Save your front wheel hubs easily”

In mid 21 they did change to an electrically operated IWE and no more vacuum. Bet you just had a bad IWE.

Integrated front wheel hub 4wd grinding $20 upgrade. “Save your front wheel hubs easily”

It did, pretty much all models were changed around late 2021 to the electronic system.

Integrated front wheel hub 4wd grinding $20 upgrade. “Save your front wheel hubs easily”

Some of the late 2021 vehicles switched to an electric hub set up so no vacuum hose or vacuum issues.

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

It’s correct. All the later Fords use the same style T stat but the part number changes for temp. The 180 is for the Mustangs, HD Ecoboost Police and taxi cars and stuff like that but won’t come up for any Expedition.

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

I live up North and went with the improved version but in a 180 degree temp. Part number is BR3E-8575-BB. Trans runs around 185-190 and the engine stays at about 190-195 with this t stat temp. On hard pulls on warm days it will cross to about 205-210 but return back down after the load is...

    Air dam stuck down

Must it’s the same as the F150’s. Here’s a pretty good video. https://youtu.be/DC_GZLR1Kpg?si=8tZtJs4xmYNk8TIS

Topping off Orange Antifreeze with Yellow Antifreeze

Here’s another chart that goes up to 2020 with a little more detail on the 3rd and 4th gens. https://www.motorcraft.com/content/dam/ford-motorcraft/en_us/motorcraft_global/products/lubricants/quick_reference_charts/antifreeze_coolants_english.pdf

Topping off Orange Antifreeze with Yellow Antifreeze

Hi all, Here’s the officials from Ford. I’ve topped up the new yellow coolant on a car with Orange and had no problems. Comparability chart also says it’s possible. https://parts.ford.com/content/dam/ford-parts/resources/motorcraftpdf/Coolants_Brochure.pdf

    transmission "popping out of gear"

I feel for you and felt in this “finger pointing game” as well when this trans left me stranded from the C D F drum shifting. Don’t pay for them to tear it down and rebuild which costs a ton. The 10 speeds are about $3500 over the counter to buy from Ford. I’d say just get a new trans and see if...

Donor transmission from a 2wd Expy compatibility

They are different part numbers for 2 and 4wd. They both have different tail housings so the transfer case won’t swap over to the 2wd unit.

Disabled Auto Engine Off But Still Shuts Off

Is there a second key in the vehicle or close to it when you set this setting? Some are key specific and if it sees two keys it might not be able to retain the setting.

    transmission "popping out of gear"

I really feel for you. This transmission left me stranded due to the C D F drum issue 1000 miles from home. Sounds like your problem relates to this TSB which I can't believe isn't a recall considering the safety aspect of how these transmissions can surprise you in a bad way...

$550 to replace rear brake pads: reasonable?

If that includes removing the rear rotors and putting a fine cut on them then it’s a good deal but depends if the rotors need it or can take it. I’d do the brake fluid flush if around $100-200. Every car I’ve done it on that has fluid older than three or four years usually will have better pedal...

    Conflicted

Sad to hear it sounds like no one at the dealer wants to seriously look into what’s happening. Id try another dealer or other two options are to load Forscan on a lap top and get a license / OBD connector or get a cheap Harbor Freight $30 code reader. I bet there’s faults stored to work with...

Integrated front wheel hub 4wd grinding $20 upgrade. “Save your front wheel hubs easily”

Many posts are here and out there about intermittent grinding noises from 4wd Expeditions and F150’s. Source is usually only partial vacuum getting to the vacuum operated front wheel hubs if you have 4wd. Ford released a $20 vacuum hose for the front wheel hub (IWE) supply which has an...

Adding skid plates to 2018 Limited with tow package?

Thanks for the heads up. I got the HL3Z7222b access cover and ran into the same problem. I was tight on time and ended up elongating two of the holes and adding one to get the access cover to work. Wasn’t fun for the cost of that little panel by my local dealer parts person was pretty sure this...

Catalytic Converter Raptor Skid Plate Installation

I was only able to find this one via the Ford.Parts.com website. I asked the Parts people at my local dealer and they also said you either get the felt or steel in non Raptor F150’s depending on options but all Raptors got this steel plate and was their only steel plate protection option for...

Catalytic Converter Raptor Skid Plate Installation

The U clips and bolts that hold the bracket for the factory felt cover could be re used but the Raptor U nuts and bolts are larger and looks to be able to withstand a heavier load than the felt cover hardware. I was tempted to leave the old hardware but liked the new bigger hardware and felt for...

Catalytic Converter Raptor Skid Plate Installation

Hi all, there are a few threads about adding skid plates to 4th gens, primarily the 2018 to 2021 models but starting this trend to highlight adding the similar year Raptor trans skid plate as catalytic converter protection. It’s an awesome easy over the Parts counter from Ford way to protect the...
