Can you tow with air suspension off?

I have a 2003 EB with air suspension. I know about leveling and then turning off the air suspension when connecting my WDH, then turning back on. However, do you have to have the air suspension 'on' while towing? I have a 21' TT and find I don't like the air suspension 'on' while towing. Am I doing any damage to the suspension on the Expy by doing this?
