This was something I have always wanted to do since seeing the low dollar wheeler episode of xtreme 4x4. 8 cans of primer and 8 cans of flat olive drab for under 60 bucks. The hardest/worst/most time consuming part was masking everything I didnt want to shoot green. It came out a little lighter than I wanted but its growing on me. This way when I scratch it up on tree limbs offroad, I can just spray a new coat on and good as new!

I must admit, when I read the title of this thread I thought to myself "this has FAIL written all over it". But I gotta tell you, that came out really nice. I like how the decal on the back glass ties it all together. Great work!:happy107:

I'd like some info on your hood mounted lights. Did you do a thread?

It took me 6 cans to paint the whole truck roof and all. I wanted to do something different to stand out and I'm glad I did this color!

98 expy 5-0- I didn't do a write up on it but all I did was very easy. There was a screw on each side right where my lights were. I removed the screw and drilled out the hold so it was big enough for my light mounting bolt to slide through it and under the plastic
There is a metal tab which I also drilled through so lights were cranked down on metal and not just that plastic piece. It's hard to explain but if you take a screw driver and loosen up those screws you will see exactly what I'm talking about.

not my taste either. i would have added some other colors in there so its not just one color. but it doesnt look bad at all. also if i may add. put the hilift on top of the bumper. itll fill in that gap.

Looks good! It can be difficult to paint something that big a flat color and not get lines in it so great job!

you must have balls the size of coconuts....
I would never think of doing that to my truck. Maybe Plasti Dip so I could take it off or possibly bedliner, but damn son it turned out good.
If I ever paint my truck I'll probably have a shop do it matte black all over everything, or bedliner so it would be tough offroad (my truck is littered with branch scratches)

Should have just plastidipped the whole thing. it comes in a ton of colors. Then you wouldn't have had to do any prep, and you could easily touch up any scratches or chips with one spray, and no wrecking your original paint underneath . But on the other hand it Looks good, and tough. It suits your rig.

Thanks guys......my friends dad paints cars for a living and he said that if I bought the paint that he would spray it for free. So he sent me down to pick up the paint and reducers and all that stuff....... I got quoted 600 bucks just for paint! I couldnt justify 600 bucks when I knew that it was going to be offroad.......ALOT! I finished painting it yesterday morning and already I have scratched it up on tree limbs while mudding today. The paint held up very well though! I did a 4x4 logo in black on the rear hatch above the blue oval badge.... sprayed the area in black then put a 4x4 sticker on the black and repainted it green, waited for it to dry and then pulled off the sticker!
