There are quite a few things that can cause this. A really good place to start would be to stop by any auto parts store as they will usually scan your vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes for free. The large chain auto parts store do at least such as Advance Auto Parts, Autozone or O'Reilly...
I hope I don't regret this decision, but I ordered some Delphi bushings since they appear to match the original design. We'll see, they should be here Friday.
I need to get this all wrapped up so I can get to the normal annual maintenance, rusted rocker panel on the Expedition and engine seals...
I have found an interesting issue. I can't find OEM replacements for the lower bushing and the upper OEM bushing is $125-150. So I decided to get Moog. However, Moog apparently sells 2 different designs under the same part number. Not the R series vs K series, these are all K80212 upper and...
Yes absolutely, the timing chain tensioners use oil pressure to adjust the chain. Of course the entire valve train is also lubricated by the oil and you were 50% low. At higher rpm their may not have been enough oil for the pump to pick up.
Glad to hear it sounds like a fairly easy fix...
Seems most of the posts I have seen reported mileage between 150-200k, with some as low as 100k.
So I had issues with a place to do the work in the past as well. I rented a space in a garage from a co-worker once and I had buddies that rented a storage facility. You probably should ensure...
Yeah seems like when both sensors appear to have failed at the same time on the 5.4L 3V it's most often time to do a timing job.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in here, but I wonder if FORScan can display timing in real time while your driving? I know it will display...
With new rear brakes it could very well be your parking brake. When it's squeaking just set the parking brake 1-3 clicks to see and then release it soon after of course.
I'm not sure you'll find anyone that has tried this. Aside from your predicament I can't see a reason why you'd go through the effort quite frankly.
You have wheel bearing hub assemblies in the front, but you have axle shafts in the rear. I suggest you'll have to change the rear axle shafts...
I understand the frustration with PATS. I have dealt with it on 3 of our GM cars. I fixed 2 and put in a resistor on the other to effectively bypass it. I have no idea if there's a way to fool the Ford system. I have also cussed the manufacturers for including these systems, but the theft...
I replaced the driver side upper rear control arm to knuckle bushing. Once the right bits and pieces are figured out it wasn't too bad. I used a rented ball joint press and receiver cup to press it out. I actually had to press the center out first since I was not able find anything that would...
Yes. For the water pump look for a chalky white line from coolant dripping from the weep hole and running down the front of the block. If it's really bad you be able to grab the fan clutch shaft and move it other than just rotation.
Thermostat, if it heats up and then doesn't stabilize, but...
The cluster has to be reprogrammed as I believe it holds the odometer mileage. There may be other ways to do this, but I dunno.
Here's what the service manual has:
Prior to removal of the module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the diagnostic tool. This...
I have hauled plywood, drywall, lumber and other long stuff many times over the years. If it's not very heavy I let it stick out the window and just put folded towels or blankets over the weather stripping to protect it. For heavy stuff I leave the tailgate open some and run straps from the...
