How about the auto stop/start issue? Does the detector restart everytime with the mirror tap set up? Thanks

I can’t comment on that as I have that turned off with forscan so I can’t even try. I do know mine cycles with the ignition i.e. if I hit the start button with no brake it powers up and then restarts after I hit it again with the brake to start the engine.

I did the install last weekend and yes it is very easy. I also installed Valentine Radar Detector BOB (Brown Out Booster). The BOB sends power to the detector when the engine auto stops so the detector doesn't go through the start up routine every time I stop.

I believe the ASS doesn’t power any accessories off so the BOB would be redundant.

ASS turns off the AC 110V AC plug in the second row but not sure what else. I have the ASS Eliminator now so don't have to worry about the Apple TV power cycling and the kids going nuts anymore. Learned a lot on that first road trip to Taos.

So I got out and messed around again and finally found the wires I was looking for. For those of you searching in the future: You need to tap the white (+) and black (-) wires on the mirror side of the mirror plug, and that will get you the power you need.

I just traded my '17 Navigator L for a '19 Expedition Limited. I reused my radar detector mount and taps in my new Expedition. I followed your instructions and it literally took 5 minutes. Thanks for posting!!

I ran a power test bypassing the BOB and directly powering my Valentine V1 with the Mirrortap. The BOB IS needed if you have Auto Start Stop active on your ride. Every time the engine started backup, the V1 went through the power up cycle.

Just wanted to share the results of my test and I can't speak for other brands of radar detectors but, the V1 needs the BOB.

I stand corrected, thanks for the info.
