We would love to get some feedback from members that have been Expedition loyal from when they first began production of the 1st generation. If not that far back, just members that continue to purchase new Expeditions when buying a new SUV. Would love to hear some stories on what makes you so loyal to the Ford Expedition?

I own a 2001 and a 2013 at the moment I prefer the 2001 styling and the handling resulting from tire, brakes, steering and suspension refurbs done recently. The 2013 is a lot more modern, but I need to get used to it as it does not handle as well. I feel I am a bit behind it, a bit of understeer perhaps.

I bought the 2013 because there are no other options to have a V8, so this will be my last generation.

Did you buy them both brand new?
I bought the 2001 as second owner at about 22K miles and now at 97K. The 2013 I bought at 117K miles, which is unusual for me to buy high miles. But it appears well maintained like my old one and has a ridiculous power train warranty, that if good as it reads on paper will cover the usual 5.4L valve train calamities should they occur in my lifetime.

I was going to repaint my 2001 and keep going with it, but the 2013 became available within my repaint budget.

I own a 2015 and a 2024, the latter I bought new, the former I bought in March of 2023 with 45K miles. It has almost 70K miles now.

I have owned one of all 4 gens. 2001 with the special interior. Adjustable headrests.
2005 limited. 2007 because we wanted the el and was the first year. Had it until last Aug with only 119,000 miles.
Got our 2022 in November of 22 after ordering it Jan 5 of 22. Max platinum. Only 7300 miles on it today.
Bought all new All were great cars. No big problems The 2001 was tan exterior and the other 3 all black with black interior.
All with second row bench also. I need to Carry 6 boys plus me and 6 golf bags to matches. I coach a high school boys golf team in the spring. We also pull a 30 foot travel trailer in the summer.
Going from a 2007 to a 2022 is a huge change with all of the electronics in the 2022. I know I only have 7000 miles on it so far but no problems at all. I see some of the issues on the forum but I guess I got a good one.
This was a different dealer this time and they are great too.
In the 52 years of me buying new cars only one of the 17 have not been a ford. From my first one a 72 mustang mach 1 to now this 22 expedition all were great.
The only real problem I’m having now is not with the car but the new ford pass but hopefully that will get worked out soon.
I know a few other guys that have expeditions also and all are very happy with theirs too.

I had a 1998, a 2004, a 2011, a 2019, and now have a 2022, some of them concurrently. For example, I kept the 2004 until replacing it with the 2022, and plan to keep the 2022 for long haul. It'll probably be my last Expedition simply due to my age, unless a compelling BEV option becomes available. According to the list on Wikipedia, that seems to cover all of the generations except the upcoming Gen 5 (although I think it's just another mid-cycle refresh of Gen 4).

The 1998 and the 2004 were bought used. Everything else was leased/purchased new, including the 2022.

I'm loyal to Expedition mostly because it's the only full-sized body-on-frame SUV that Ford makes.
