So my friends scanned found p0703 and p1780. 0703 is a brake light switch or something. 1780 is something with the transmission. Wierd that is make the engine bite. The guy on you tube described it as a fish bitting on a line for his customers f150. I will work these problems and see what...

I am not sure what exactly a rich bank 1 means. I can do a vacuum test maybe to confirm but another meaning is that I have a bad injector, or some other kind of misfire? If I could isolate the cylinder that is the problem and replace everything. I am planning on doing the injectors on bank 1...

Building a 2006 5.4 what would you do?

I wonder why it is being rebuilt? You could polish the crank and cams and get the head resurfaced. Hone the cylinders. Clean the head at the shop. I dont know about that year parts. If you jnow enough to try a rebuild you probably know that stuff.

2007 5.4L Expedition rough start and idle

That is interesting you were able to provide the recording. You can get the elm327 bluetooth obd2 adapter and run a program like torque on your phone. That may be an android only program. Amazon has the adapter for low price. I got the bosch adapter and it worked at first but will no longer...

Do you guys use any programs to monitor your engine? I am having a kind of misfire. I am not sure which cylinder. The dealership was able to tell which cylinder had low voltage. I can read the o2 sensors and they are wonky on bank one. This suggests a vacuum leak. I did my valve cover...

    Power steering pulley removal??

Theres a special puller. It fits right over that lip. Its a three piece thing with a ring and two parts that fit over the lip and connect to a puller. The same thing allows you to install the pulley on the new pump. The installation involves the threaded inside of the new pump. So a parts...

I have been replacing coils and spark plugs and i had a leaky head gasket and low compression in at least one. I had fuel in my coolant and a gunky build up on pistons so that was worth the effort and certainly a learning experience. I had damage from the wrong sized rotor bolt holes 14mm on...

    engine performance

I replaced my pcv hose elbow because i was getting O2 reading of 0.8 and sinusodal graph on my phone. The trick was knowing that the O2 sensor should be steady at 0.5 or near to it. Once I checd that graph using the elm327 and torque app on my android phone I was able to conclude that I had a...

I have an elmscan 5 to connect to the obd port however I am not sure what software will improve on the elm327 bluetooth i have on my phone. I am having low voltage on both banks and I have been replacing coil packs and improving the ride in many ways. the moog sway bar linkages have made an...

    mystery shimmy

I have been avoiding driving my expedition lately because I still felt my wobble that lead to more significant damage. I have since replaced my torque converter and cv axles. I finally got into the dealership which was helpful. I was given a list of things to repair. I have replaced one tire...

    mystery shimmy

I tried to pry it and no movement so i am gonna call it done. I may have damaged the cv axle from vibrations that i have since resolved cause i still feel something. I might do that because its easy but i am mostly glad that is not an issue. It was up in the air when it moved before maybe its...

    mystery shimmy

Some expeditions have a 2wd option in addition to 4 hi 4 low and awd which is automatic 4wd. There is a sensor detecting rear wheel slipage which engages 4wd in awd selection. In 2wd selection those models have a set up similar to an elocker but its just an e-auto 4wd. If that is clear. The...

    mystery shimmy

something interesting i have learned is that in 2wd models the selection controls the front differential somehow. I assumed the selection occurred in the transfer case. This is relevant to me because it makes both my differential and transfer case simpler. There is a kind of electronic-locker...

I thought all issues with misfires were resolved. I just replaced a pigtail connector to coil pack. I probably still have both to fix. Tune and front diff.

    mystery shimmy

My friend you are right however i have been feeling it less rough in the front. It is difficult to describe. Feeling it in the front without the front drive line should exclude the transmission. I have been working through misfires so i am familiar with the engine timing and it seems to be...

    mystery shimmy

So my rotors have been replaced five years ago when i first got it. Transmission is suspect at this point i guess my wallet want to be certain. So maybe not the 70 but i think there are some minor differences in the gear ratios of the other model with 4r100. I need a 4r 100 from a vehicle...

    mystery shimmy

There was something vibrating this morning with no front drive line axle in, so still not sure if that tells me its the front diff. Transmission was done a long time ago for 1000 buck and it started ever since then which was like four years ago. I would have an easier time telling you what I...

Well the front drive line axle was balanced with new u joints. It does feel like a u joint kind of but i am trying to feel what going on with out it in right now. I have not found anything broken at this time but if there is still vibration in the back then maybe transmission... or it...

    mystery shimmy

OK so I went to the transmission shop today and I had professionals put it up on four stands and run it in gear and see the vibration. the front wheels were wobbling like out of balance. We took the front drive line out and no more wobble in the front. I am scheduled to have front...

I nearly purchased a studebaker truck a long time ago. I like cars and would get one of those stepside bed. I rebuilt an eagle talon and working on a oil leak from my oil pressure sensor. I think i over tightened it. The expy was my used car dealership solution to car break downs. Ive...

    mystery shimmy

I have been researching the transmission and it turns out the eddie bauer uses the 4r70w transmission in two wheel drive models. Not sure if they had awd bauer edition. They may have used 4r100 sometimes. That leads to slight gear ratios differences for towing. I feel this is where the...

Im gonna get right to the point first, and then provide story. 2001 expy xlt purchased 2012 and blew trans 2013 cheap swap for 1000 bucks and has not been the same since. He was upselling me to a eddie bauer transmission from a compatible year, I dont know if the wrong transmission was...
