How to tell the size of my rear end?
I have a 2002 5.4 liter XLT with 136k miles. I have 12 bolts on my diff cover. How can I tell what size the rear end is? I am trying to get a new pinion seal but I want to make sure I get the right one. Orielly Auto Parts has one for an 8.8 and one for a 9.75. Will my manual tell me or is...- harleyguy27

Yes I made sure to wait about an hour with the bolts just hand tight and then I torqued them down on the Diff. I put a generous amount as to ensure sealant all the way around the cover. My truck is an '02 5.4 liter XLT with 135K miles. I believe it has the 8.8 rear end but will have to double...- harleyguy27

Color of RTV sealant??
I replaced my Diff fluid and cleaned the cover up really well. I went to the auto part store and bought some RED hi temp RTV sealant to use on the cover. Is that going to be a problem? Will the 75W-140 gear oil eat through the RED sealant or was it ok to use that color?- harleyguy27

Differential Leak
I changed my diff fluid yesterday and noticed today that it is not leaking anywhere around the cover with the new RED RTV sealant I put on it, but I did notice some moisture around the front of the diff where the drive shaft comes into the diff. Windshield Wipers are acting up on my '02
I recently noticed that my wipers only work in Park and Neutral. At first, I thought it was the switch, but everything else on the switch works fine.
