I have an 04 Eddie Bauer that my son drives and the battery was dead this morning. I went to check it with a multi meter and the alternator was putting out about 65 amps with an approximate 40% battery charge. I let it run for about 20 mins. Alt was outputting 14.5 volts and was down to 56 amps at a 70% battery charge. My question is this is a 110 amp alternator. Does the internal voltage regulator meter how much amperage the alternator puts out? When does it put out the 110amps? I’m leaning towards a weak battery but wanted more info on the alternator just for my troubleshooting benefit. Thanks.
