Looking to buy a new Expedition, but havent decided to get an '11 or a '12. My dealer is telling me that ford might introduce the Eco Boost motor in 2012 which they are currently running in the 2011 F150's. The motor is a V6 3.5 365 hp with 450 torque and getting 21-22 mpg. I will be going with the 3.73 gears and 4x4. Anyone heard of this yet? Should i go with the standard 5.4 v8? Kinda leary about going with a new motor since i went through that back in '03 with my 6.0 powerstroke diesel motor. Ford ended up buying the truck back with 9000 miles on it and i got an '04 in return.

I have not heard of them planning on the Eco-Boost motor in the Expy yet. I know they had some changes planned but the last I heard that was put on the " back burner " for the time being.

The Eco-Boost is a great motor. It has been in the new Taurus SHO since it came out and there have been alot of people raving about it in the F150. If Ford where to put that motor in the Expy I am sure they could boost there sales, either that or offer a small diesel option.

Remember compared to the other ford cars, expeditions NEVER have any good rebates. $2500 is the most Ive seen which is nothing compared to the $6000+ for the F150's Ive seen. Now what I would do is wait for the 2012 to come out bc then you might finally see some decent rebates on the 2011. If you think a new limited EL is expensive, wait till they put the ecoboost in it:rotflmao:

:imo: I would stick with the 5.4. I have an 05 with 120k and I get 18mpg on the highway with it. I know that because I actually check the mileage with the odometer, not the display. A new one should get the same. Plus, you'll loose the torque with the v6that you would have with the v8. You want all the torque you can get when your trying to move a 6,000lb vehicle.

Actually the v6 eco boost has more torque and hp than the 2011 5.4 3v V8.
3.5 EcoBoost 365hp and 420torque
5.4 V8 310hp and 365torque (trust me i know my ford engines)

i want that eco boost. its not getting the perclaimed 22 mpg freeway as the retarded epa says its getting, but still you cant beat 18 high way and still pull away from V8 trucks. the twin turbos wining sound so nice. i saw 2 eco boost f150s running the stock class at the mint 400. both sounded sexy!

I love Fords. But I'm not quite sure I belive 420lb.-ft torque at 2500rpm.
Especially when the engine has the same displacement, same compression, same valve train and the block and heads are both aluminum. I will belive it when i see it on a dyno. Small displacement, high reving engines are not known for torque
