Hey guys so I have been planning a trip up into the Jemez mountains in the Santa Fe National forest here near my home. So we started off at my house which is at 7400 ft in elevation. we traveled on forest roads to a elevation of 12,000 ft. the pass I had planned on going through was about 3 feet of snow. and I was still able to travel through it but at a pace that was not acceptable. It would have taken me days to get to my destination which was 40 miles on forest roads. so we stopped there and got our tree. It was a lot of fun, I wish I had taken more pics but here is what I took.

P.S. I was so impressed with the Expy she handled everything I threw at her and more! She trudged through 1-2 feet of snow for miles with no problems at all, If I had my new tires on I dont think we would have had to stop. I WILL be planning more overland expeditions with her. And there is lots of places to explore near where I live!

mounted my GPS finally

exactly! its more about the trip than the tree!

The rifle is a 8mm Mauser that I had a custom stock made, and custom bolt lever made to take the scope mounts. The hand gun is my baby! its a Springfield XD 9mm holds 21 rounds. its supposed to be "the next Glock".

Snow wheeling is fun, but you must prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

True, We were up there far enough that if something happened we were days from help. So we had enough gear to last 5 days. You never know!

haha, you guys were really prepared then, that's why I like wheeling in the mountains east of Laramie, there is pretty good cell service, and about a half hour drive to get there. If I'm worried about getting stuck, I usually go with a group.

Those XDs are nice, a buddy of mine has one in a .40 and its is a blast to shoot, but my next pistol will probably be a Kimber.
