Been having issues for 1 month now, sluggish, gear shifting off, esp between 3-4, jerking, lunging, no codes! Had the trans flushed as soon as it started, mechanic could not find a code. 3 weeks & the problem continues. Finally got a wrench symbol, Ford Pass says i "the powertrain control system is unable to engage the park gear position in the transmission." Mechanic- cant fix. Transmission specialist says my 3rd gear is burned out. Unable to replace that, must break down & rebuild the whole transmission.....$5900. Not a new trans, rebuilding MINE!!!!! Any others with this issue? I have filed a complaint w/ FORD, NFTSA? 110,000 miles, I bought w/ 30K miles. Super dilligent w/ maintenance as my family owns oil change company. FRUSTRATED w/ FORD. Needless to say, last one i will ever buy.

More than likely it’s a failure of the CDF drum. The liner slips inside and blocks oil passages, the lack of oil to the clutch packs leads to overheating and the slipping feel. Yes the trans will need to be completely rebuilt or replaced, depending on the amount of clutch material found inside the trans. Ford did update the CDF drum sometime after 2020 but it’s not clear if the update has been successful in curing the problem.

Don’t rebuild. Just buy a new unit for $3500 from Ford.

There are issues with the CDF drum, valve body, torque converters, shift solenoids, and park mechanism. Unless your rebuilders really know what they are doing (which is almost impossible these days), they will neglect something and you will have to repeat in the near future. Just get a new one and you will be good to go.

If you put 80k miles on it, why would you be frustrated? Most new vehicles now break-down at 100k miles now a days. If anything, id be more upset with the shops. I'm running into the issue of, unless the vehicle breaks down with them In the car, they don't wanna take the time to find the problem.

Stop listening to transmission company and go to Ford. Have them diagnose it and see what they say. Also purchase a warranty. Then you may pay less and have a warranty for other failures as well.

Yes, they need to perform calibration when the valve body is replaced with the new transmission. They need Ford diagnostic software to do this.

I am still against a rebuild since there has been many part revisions over the past few years and many of the old flawed parts are still floating around.
