Other than size.. Fuel mileage and parking maybe. LOL...

You can get a V10 or powerstroke in the excursion. I would guess the excursion would hold more value as well because there are far fewer of them available. Expeditions are not in short supply... lol.

Alaskanexpy would be a good one to ask as he owns both.

yup i own both, personally thats the best way to have it. but i know thats not a option for many.

i have owned 3 V10 4x4 excursions all with 3:73 gearing(sadly) they are wonderful trucks!!! the V10 is very reliable, its basically just a 5.4 with 2 more cylinders. i have been daily driving a excursion since march 2009 putting over 50k miles combined. i can park it anywhere..never found a spot it cant be stuffed.

differences, the excursion rides much more truck like, steering is not as light. also the excursions really need the springs swapped out for F-250/F-350 springs to make them ride/handle decently. yes it is bigger in every way..taller, wider, longer. takes alittle getting used to.

comparing the trucks MPG i see a consistant 1-2mpg less the my 5.4 expedition.

there is a ton more info if you go here

btw i own all 3 a 2001 explorer, 98 expedition and 2002 excursion so i have all sizes covered ;)

yeah the 7.3s hold value like crazy. even the 6.0s are not cheap.

personally i have no want and secondly no need for a diesel. the huge price point over the V10, extra maintenance cost, higher repair costs, cold weather issues made the gasser a no brainer and i've been so very happy with the V10.

you can find a nice lower mile V10 for around $10k depending on your area. prices for them are all over the board. my 2002 still books for what i paid for it in 2010 with 25k more miles on it!

i wouldn't mind an excursion almost bought one instead of my 03 expy. I like the fact that with the excursion you can put a newer front end of a 250/350. The 09 front ends look good on an excursion.
