People still have CDs? Is one of those ‘back in my day, up hill, both ways…’ moments?
I’d go ahead and rip them and store them on a thumb drive, before you can’t get a CD player anymore. You’ll get as good quality as the CD, but no better (but you can go worse). There are a variety of hi resolution digital formats that meet or exceed CD rate (something like 1kbps?). Understandably, MP3 is less (300kbps or so), most people won’t be able to tell the difference, and the audio playback system, or the listening area, may be the bottleneck.
