Check out the difference between the number of sales in 1999 compared to 2009... Ford just barely made 10% of their 1999 sales numbers.

1999: 233,125
2000: 213,483
2001: 178,045
2002: 163,454
2003: 181,547
2004: 159,846
2005: 114,137
2006: 87,203
2007: 90,287
2008: 55,123
2009: 31,655
2010: 37,336

2 main reasons I don't buy a new expedition:
1. Need something more powerful then the 5.4L
2. I don't know what I would do without my bench seat in the front, I would feel like I was just driving in a cramped up car.

Its seems this happens to all models. They sell like hot cakes in the beginning and then tamper off.

True but the expedition is somewhat different since it's not like Ford has any other choices for an SUV whereas they have lots of choices for sedans. The Expedition is Fords only SUV (built on a truck platform) at the moment and they need to do something to save it since the numbers haven't been tampering off and instead continue to drop. I mean common, only 10% of the original sales volume?

When I was looking for my truck I originally wanted an Excursion. The dealer told me the problem Ford is having with the Expedition and Excursion is that people like their trucks, and they are holding on to them. He said when they get either of them in as a trade they have tons of miles and years of use.

and with fuel costs going up, since it must not be a good idea to drill in America, these beasts just are not selling real well.

That is a factor check out the prices of gas since the expeditions birth in 97:
11/17/97 it was 1.279 lowest price was 1.259 in July highest 1.499 Janurary
11/17/98 it was 1.139 lowest price was 1.099 in December highest 1.339 Janurary.
11/17/99 it was 1.379 lowest price was 1.079 in Feburary highest 1.379.
11/17/00 it was 1.699 lowest price was 1.379 in Janurary highest 1.799 December.
11/17/01 it was 1.399 lowest price was 1.299 in December highest 1.699 in Janurary.
11/17/02 it was 1.499 lowest price was 1.299 in Janurary highest 1.559 in October.
11/17/03 it was 1.559 lowest price was 1.539 in July highest 1.899 in Feburary.
11/17/04 it was 2.259 lowest price was 1.699 in Janurary highest 2.359 in October, broke 2.00 on September 22 that year and stayed there.
11/17/05 it was 2.679 lowest price was 2.099 in Janurary highest 2.699 in December.
11/17/06 it was 2.699 lowest price was 2.599 in Janurary highest 3.159 in August.
11/17/07 it was 3.499 lowest price was 2.599 in Feburary highest so far 3.499
Skip to 2/24/11 and it's 3.93

I agree MPG is a big factor, but I think Ford is losing a lot of customers to Toyota and the other *** manufactures who have SUVs that get the same MPG but are cheaper to maintain (due to being made out of cheap parts)

Also, every few months I write to ford via their customer suggestions on their website and give ford my $.02 on how they could improve sales... if anyones interested in doing the same I can find a direct link.

Wouldnt mind seeing a diesel version. As long as the Expedition is around, I will probably have one. Never really needed a truck, prefer it to a Navigator or Escalade, and its Home Grown
