Power Running Board Step Pad Replacement

I have been researching options to refinish the driver's side running board since the finish has worn down to metal in spots. It's clearly not recommended to repaint them due to traction issues in wet conditions, but I came across Ford step pad replacement part #5L1Z-16490-AA. Does anyone have any experience changing these?

I have not used the pad replacement, but I am planning on refinishing mine with bedliner. Thinking of using the diy kit type that rolls on. It will help protect them and add traction to the mix.
