So to make a long story short, a crater of a rock hit my windshield today and shattered it to hell and back. Shards of glass were literally stuck in my wiper blades. My insurance deductible is $500 so no use going through them. Safelite wants almost $400 because it is obviously the acoustic windshield that helps block road and engine noise. I think they started this in 2007. I must admit, the cabin is almost as quiet as my BMW when traveling at high speeds. But will I notice a big difference if I go with the non-acoustic windshield? I found one for almost half the price as the acoustic resin version.

In the state of Florida the insurance company has to replace your windshield for free with no deductible. ive had it done once before. You might wanna look into that.
