I will also say, this was NEVER the case in previous years. I've been buying Fords and Ford Extended warranty's since the 1990's and up until about 5 years ago, the premium warranty was pretty much bumper to bumper (except of course obvious maintenance items). It seems the bean counters are now running the warranty show as well.
I recently had my 2018 Plati in for a number of items, one of them was the same thing, I probably had about 30 to 40% of the center brake light LEDs out, and they replaced it no issue.
My theory is that you take all the money you would spend on warranty plans, put it in a jar, and use it for repairs. The jar would never go empty.
