Just bought a 2008 ford xp.
my second one.
for 8k
this one is at 152k and runs great
no loss of power.
where the issue begins:
just changed battery.
got a 600$ quote for spark plug change. *****, time to call the mechanic friend.
i had a PPI done on the vehicle the guy advised me battery, if not spark plugs and or starter.
got a second opinion he said my starter sounded fine.
That it could either be a spark issue or a fuel issue.
very easy fix both ways.
he also suggested it could be a. cAm shaft sensor.
i came to the ford forums. Seems like the common issue is fuel pumps and lines losing pressure.
I realize this year exp is not a *************.
Will definitely go up to 400k with proper maintenance.
but they have very common fuel line pressure issues. Very easy google to get similar sounding problems on the same build/engine.
it is a delivery work horse so fixing the small stuff on the way is very important.
BUT, I know that I’ve never had to replace cam shaft or mass air flow sensors on my other ford Xp that just crossed 202k.
and especially, The new one at 152k is is not throwing any codes.
just wanted some confirmation bias.
I have to return the starter I bought from Napa,
going to do the sparky boys,
now going to consider purchasing a fuel pump and line with a metal casing around the pressure point someone else mentioned?
just did raptor-bumper, with new lights, removed the floppy wings of side steps.
going to add spacers,
matte black the tan trim with a vinyl wrap. see last photo for my inspiration
