Newbie here,

I'm trying to run power to a switch for some roof mounted lights on my 08 Exp.

I need the power to be in the cab, as opposed to running from the battery.

Any ideas on where I can tap in and get power underdash?

Or do I have to run through the firewall?

This is my first Expedition, always have been a Yukon guy, but really love the way everything is coming together on this truck. Great ride/handlling.

I've had it a month and so far, here is a list of things i've done-

Ranch hand legend grille guard
Yakima Megawarrior roof rack with extension w/8 Yakima mounts (for extra stability)
Kenwood DNX6990hd stereo
BFGoodrich All Terrains

and am currently working on an integrated roof rack led lighting project.

But need help wiring!

The easy answer, but not what I would do, is directly from the fuse box located on the right side kick panel.

I would run the switch from the fuse box to power a relay that draws off the battery - through a fuse - to the lights. This way you won't fry any OEM circuits or burn up your truck should something go wrong.

On a side note - I have been installing afermarket emergency lighting and sirens in my and other members of my fire and rescue departments for over 20 years, and I have never had any issues with my wiring or installs.

Spend the time money and take the time to do it right the first time.
