I purchased some Bilstein 5100’s for my 2019 Expedition XLT Max (4x4). I took it to the Ford dealership to have them installed and they are telling me that they are unable to reuse the spring seat from the original parts.

I tried looking around for that (I.e. strut mounts) but am not able to find any meant for my truck. The dealer is also indicating they cannot order this either.

Any suggestions on where to find this part? Or is the Ford dealer incorrect about not being able to reuse that part.

Thx for any help with this.

Usually I replace with new strut mounts so you don't have clunking noises....

You can’t aside from a JY.
You have to reuse the old ones. Some folks have had luck with a small sledge hammer, I had to use a press to get them off.

Just turn the strut upside down and hit the spring mount with a rubber mallet or dead low hammer. After 5 or 10 medium blows, it will force the dust cap off. Find a YouTube video and show it to them.

It may or may not be that easy. Mine were pressed on something serious. Even a mini sledge did nothing.
Had to put them in a press.

Thanks for all the information. Appreciate it.

The Ford dealer I took the car to said that they were not allowed to remove the spring perch on the original part.

Do people know whether doing that would void the warranty? Thanks again for all the info.
