Expedition/Navigator Factory THX system weakness??

I presently own a 2007 Navigator with the 6 cd THX system (non-nav) and am rather underwhelmed with the overall sound quality of radio and CD's. It sounds like their's poor integration of upper bass/lower midrange plus the high end is rather grating. Anyone know where the bottleneck is with this system, the head unit, amplification, or speakers? To use an anology the sytem reminds me of a plane sitting on the tarmac with it's engine revving madly but its missing the propeller.

all the above...to include speaker location...if you want better you'd have to replace everything with aftermarket items and remove factory sub and put a good 8" sub or 10" sub in the back for depth of music...nothing serious unless you want to
