Stock Head Unit phone button

So my stock head unit has a phone button. When I press it, it says "no phone connected." Is there a way to connect my cell to this, or do i have to do something crazy to get this to work?

that phone button has 2 functions. The standard function is to mute the radio for phone calls. If you buy this add-on http://accessories.ford.com/mobile-ease-hands-free-system-advanced.html it will make it hands free.

I can (and will) get an aftermarket head unit with bluetooth build in for that.
