I think I asked a similar question awhile back, but I thought I'd take another tack. I have a 2004 EB. On cold mornings (seems to be more noticeable when it's cold than when it's not), when going over slight undulations in the pavement, etc., I get a rubbing, 'wa wa wa wa' sound that sounds like it's coming from the hub(s), or maybe front driveshaft/u-joints, or maybe CVs, or maybe the IWE(s)?
Perhaps related - perhaps not: Only when in reverse backing up and turning the steering wheel in either direction, I get a rolling, crunching, popping sound (maybe like CV joints?), but driving forward it doesn't make the sound at all - even in a full-stop turn.
I have to think the two sounds are common issues with these vehicles. Is it the same thing or two different things? Any idea what either one could be?
