Good afternoon everyone, I'm looking into purchasing a camping trailer and need to know if the one I was shown at the lot is too big for my expedition. I have a 13 el xlt with the heavy tow package. The trailer I'm looking at is 37 feet long, 11 feet tall, and weighs almost 7700 pounds. I've pulled something that big with an f150 before but need to know if the expedition can do it. It will be towed up a mountain to get to the campsite and It'll be about 3 hours of driving one way. There was another trailer that wasn't as long but I like this one because the trailer I get needs to hold 6. The link will also be on here of you need more info on what I'm looking at.

I wouldn't. That is too long and too heavy imo. Assuming you're going to pull that trailer and have 6 in your Expy? What is the tongue weight of the trailer? That 7700lbs will be 8500 after you put stuff it in. You will have certainly exceeded payload for sure of the Expy when all is said and done.

I tow a 30' RV, about 6600lbs, 2 adults, in a 2017 Expy with Heavy Duty and I feel I'm at the limit for an Expy with my set up. And this is after dialing in the WDH hitch, upgrading tires, and doing everything I can to beef up the setup.

That’s too long and too heavy for your Expedition. That said, there are lots trailers that fit 6 and which are also a good match for your Expedition. (We fit 6 in a trailer with an 18’ box.)

I strongly suggest reading some of the other threads on here about trailer specs and towing capabilities. That you inquired about a trailer that size suggest you're not fully cognizant of the Expedition's towing limits. Start with the towing guide from Ford and read some other threads so you have more knowledge about how to calculate safe tow limits. It's your family's life on the line, so you don't want to taking unnecessary risks.

Dealerships are reknown for sending people off the lot with oversized campers and poorly configured hitches. Once you pick a trailer, perhaps consider renting one with similar dimensions to see how you feel pulling it with an Expedition.
