Funny to stumble across this thread. My relative has a 2019 Platinum that they bought used. I've sat in their back seats and asked what the deal was with their seatbelts and they did not know. I just assumed it was some sort of specialized belt for car seats/dogs/etc. I never found them any more difficult to use; they're just noticeably thicker and padded than the standard belt and have a different buckle.
