I feel for you and felt in this “finger pointing game” as well when this trans left me stranded from the C D F drum shifting. Don’t pay for them to tear it down and rebuild which costs a ton. The 10 speeds are about $3500 over the counter to buy from Ford. I’d say just get a new trans and see if corporate and / or the dealer will help with that so all is new since there’s a lot in these transmissions that need to be fixed and the diagnosis and labor will get expensive fast. A new trans and a a few hours to replace it will be way cheaper and now you have a good truck. When the C D F drum in my trans failed, it also need a valve body, torque converter, main shaft and several other parts equaling around $6000.00.

So finally I had had enough of my car slipping out of gear. I called the local dealer and asked them to replace the transmission separator plate listed in the tsb. They quoted me $35 for the plate and $1100 for labor. They really didn't want to do the work and kept telling me I had to sign a waiver saying I wouldn't come after them if the repair I was asking to be done didn't solve the issue. I also said I wanted my cam phasers replaced with the newer model phasers since my car sounded like a broken blender at startup. I told them that while they were in there, to replace the thermostat too. They seemed really hesitant to do all the work but they did it. $5800 in total, and now I have brand new car. Runs better than it ever has and now I have zero problems with the car. It was worth every penny.
