'99 expedition 5.4 will not start
open up your air intake as if you were going to change your air filter, and while someone is turning the truck over, spray a little (very little) bit of starting fluid where your air cleaner is at. If the truck fires then you have a fuel problem, if it doesn't fire than you have an ignition problem.- opie

well, i'm going to go with the classIII hitch and forget about the bumper hitch. But i did talk to my father in law about it (he's an engineer for chevy) and he said that if its rated at 4000 lbs , then its probably good for up to 5000 lbs as there is usually a 80%/20% safety factor figured...- opie

bumper hitches
Bumper hitches? Do you trust them? The bumper hitch is rated 4000lbs (400 lb tongue weight). A classIII hitch would only gain me 1000 lbs and 100 lbs for tongue weight. I'd be towing a trailer full of wood 12-15 times per year, and thats pretty much it. The trailer belongs to a family...- opie

Taking applications....
i spend at least 4-8 hours a day online thru week, and more on weekends. been mod on another board for over year (a very,very busy board at that) promoted to admin about 4 months ago ( I will pm you the link to the other board so as not to advertise it here on your board.) -

Glove Compartment Lock ?
i don't know, i'm betting an aftermarket self-installed glovebox lock wouldn't be much of a match to a screwdriver.... i guess my point is that if it were me, and its not, i wouldn't risk messing up an 3 month old truck when a thief who is willing to break the glass to get in a truck is...- opie

Engine Issues
yeah, i had an s-10 pick up (granted, much smaller engine) that siezed up....$3000 to fix at dealer... in one weekend i pulled the engine, pulled the crank shaft and had it turned 10thousandths under, put oversized main and rod bearings in, new front and rear seals, oil pump, cluch disk...- opie

Heater Core Replacement
one other thing that just occurred to me at work today...if you do decide to replace the heater core yourself, be sure to flush your system, fill it, run your engine and let it heat up BEFORE you put your dash back together. I spend a day replacing a heater core a few years back on a mini van...- opie

Mileage display and side view mirror controls
mirrors: get the "joystick" switch out of the door and run a jumper (bypassing the joystick) to see if the mirrors move any better. If they work, then you know its the joystick contacts. mileage display: The fact that it DIMS as well as goes out...- opie
