    CCD OR NOT????

Wheel size and tire choice are also big factors. With the 22” wheels you want it. OEM stock tires seem to be “meh” at best as well on most setups. Getting the Hankook tires off for BFG AT tires on my 20” wheels made a huge difference for me. Maybe get what is on the lot, but expect to want to...

In the market for an Expedition - what to watch for?

    1) The motorized running boards break. 2) Lower level trim levels (XLT) have a bad sound system for this price point. 3) The waste gates rattle. 4) I would recommend an extended warranty. 5) My stock tires were garbage (20” wheels) when new. 6) GM products have their own issues so there is no...

    Very slow AC leak

Our 2020 max had the rear evaporator replaced under warranty and that fixed our small leak. Took the dealer 2 weeks to find it. I think I’ve seen a few other complaints about the rear evaporator being a problem. Might check that area out?

2022 HVAC blowing hot air on driver - TSB may be on-the-way

I just had an HVAC issue on my 2020 Max (30k miles), but it wound up being a failed rear condenser. All my vents blew hot air. Literally caught it 1 week before the warranty expired. Good luck. Sounds like a blend door issue or software issue for you.

Cost of Ownership Comparison 2020 to 2018

Buying a car isn’t always about the money. Assuming it does have some first model year bugs, you can start having peace of mind issues with the 2018, especially putting your wife in the car. Also, I always think buying the extended warranty is a waste of money if you really want to talk money...

    Expensive Sunroof Repair

There is a TSB on the issue.... not sure if this helps or not. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10153936-9999.pdf

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

Here is a photo someone sent me showing how they put a sub in the Center Console to solve the bass issue, as well as their door install photos. Stand below the sub. Sub Rear door Front door

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

Had a few emails about my parts list. Here is what I had: Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4 (the amp I used) Amp wiring kit (mostly for the power line to the battery and ground line) 50 feet of speaker wire (I had some leftover from another project, so you might need more) Rockford Fosgate T1675-S...

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

I would start by experimenting with the Forscan EQ fix. It’s like $10 for the software and $30 for the usb adaptor. You can always revert it if you don’t like it. From what I can tell the factory stereo has very little power (like 5 watts RMS a speaker) so I’m not sure how much improvement you...

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

Factory rear speaker... in case anyone wonders why the sound is so bad. The magnet is the size of a quarter.

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

Sorry, I don’t check in here much. It’s better for people to email me ([email protected]) if they have questions. The upgrade does help with the third row, but sound is still limited. My daughter is in the 3rd row a lot, and hasn’t really complained about sound after the upgrade. The...

New Expedition Owner - First post

Great minds think alike... https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2020-xlt-stereo-upgrade.44248/ The Forscan trick is key though. You can’t just upgrade the hardware. Also, you can disable the battery management system using Forscan to kill auto start, but you’ll get an error message every...

    2018 to 2020 XLT differences

Stereo in the 2020 XLT is garbage. See my thread below: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2020-xlt-stereo-upgrade.44248/ However, everything else seems fine, so if you can live with that it isn’t worth the extra $7K or so to bump up to the Limited in my mind.

New Expedition Purchase - How much off MSRP?

I bought my 2020 about 45 days ago. Sticker was $69k and change, and I was given the option to take 5 years 0% financing and pay $64k, or pay $61k cash/other credit. Went with the $64k since it saved $5k in interest over the life of the loan (I put $10k down and didn’t have a trade). That was...

    SHOPPING FOR A NEW EXPEDITION

If you like music, avoid the base stereo. I can’t say the B&O system is any better (I don’t own an Expedition with it) but I was very disappointed in my 2020 XLT’s sound system versus the cost of the vehicle. The rear speaker’s magnet is pretty much the size of a quarter and one had a cable...

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

So after about 500 miles I just couldn't live with the "crisp" (OK, it sounded crappy) sound at high volumes. Sounded fine for regular volume, but wasn't great for high volume. If my wife says something about bad sound, I know it is an issue. After some research, Ford actually tunes out bass...

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

You are correct on the fake engine noise; after getting everything back together I don't get any engine noise. However, I have a 2020 (not 2019) Expedition, and I've only got 6 speakers in the car. 4 in the doors, and two tweeters in the A column. Must have been a model year change.

    2020 XLT Stereo Upgrade

Just bought a 2020 Expedition Max with the 202A option package that had a few other options (i.e. Nav., Captain’s chairs, sunroof). Opted for this over the Limited due to about a roughly $6,500 price difference when similarly equipped. My kids are just going to wipe buggers on the inside...
