Estimate what you think it will be, then double it and add 10%. Seems to hold true for mechanical repairs.

After you receive money for the pain and suffering from the insurance company you should be able to get into a new Cadilac Escalade V Blackwing anyways. forget the expy...

That's a shame, it looks like you've taken excellent care of that car. Since no one is reporting serious injuries (so far), it only makes sense to have your wife and any other passengers checked out by a Dr. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for the aches and pains to show up. The cost of settling this claim is going to shock you just for estimated costs to repair and rental car fees so I hope that whoever the at-fault party is has good insurance and not the state minimum if that applies in MD and with the non-availability of replacement parts I would suspect it being declared a total loss. Before it goes too far, push for a total loss because a repaired vehicle tagged with a CarFax won't be worth the cost of repairs once it's repaired.

My wife really loves the truck. We did take really good care of it too. My daughter and I were in it during the crash but no physical injuries to speak of. I'm not sure how insurance will play out since it happened in FL (no fault state) and we live in MD. I do know it definitely wasn't my fault and I have shared dash cam video to prove it with my insurance. I'm hoping to hear from the accident investigator and adjuster in the next few days.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope you and your family are all ok.

I'd suspect it'll be totaled. I recall the owner of the body shop we took our big trucks to telling me that most vehicles over three years were being totaled due to cost of parts. That was before Covid, and all the insanity and issues of getting parts.

Even if it were not totaled, you probably don't want it back after it is repaired. A cross nose hit like that probably pushed the frame rails to the passenger side, you can see the pass side front fender is pushed into the door. If the other driver was at fault (it would be good if they were ticketed for running the red light) then you are entitled to Diminished Value payment which will probably push the vehicle into the totaled category. There are a lot of specialist companies that will assist with this, Google Diminished Value.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. Sucks that it had to happen so far from home, such an inconvenience! I would bet this is totaled out.

On the topic of the IIHS, it really is scary and inexcusable that Ford would fail the overlap test in this day and age. I had my bumper off recently, and was actually surprised that the crash bar did not extend past the frame rails behind the bumper and was so low as well (you can see this in the crash pics). I can see why they would fail the overlap easily as well as failing to protect in a rear-ending unless you were to hit a lowered Civic.

Owned a body shop back in the early 1980’s. I bought myself in the apprenticeship then sold to go to school..
Anyway..
Total it.
Should be easy with about any insurance company other than State Farm. Who we refused to take work from.
The most complicated part of a vehicle is located in the front end.
I’d buy rear end collisions all day to rebuild and flip with a salvage title and side collisions were nearly as bad requiring lots of frame/body alignment hours but…
It’s extremely difficult to find every little thing that has been Damon a front end collision.
There’s a LOT of stuff up there ahead of the firewall.
I’ve seen other shops blow vehicles out after front end repairs with bent crank pulleys and harmonic balancers. Then there’s small broken electrical components, connectors etc…
Plus… your turbos probably sucked plastic and aluminum bits from the intercooler back..
Fenders can be rehung on misaligned and bent body posts but eventually they can start to twist…
I’d fight big time to get it totaled.
